The BlueBird has wings!
I am excited to be starting this business. I have always thought “helping people” was the most rewarding part of any job I worked on. I knew I wanted to have a business, but it was hard to see clearly how I could start a business that focused on “helping people.”
But once I created my first Custom Software solution with Filemaker, it became clear to me how helpful this was to every person in my organization.
The solution keeps all our data, and is always evolving to be the central information center for our business.
A simple example:
We buy new shoes for our employees every year. We had an Excel spreadsheet that was sometimes updated to reflect these shoe orders and preferences. But because our solution already tracked employees, with just a few simple fields, we were able to add information to each employee to track not only their last shoe order but also their shoe size and preference. Another organization may want to track favorite colors or something completely different. The beauty is anything is possible and fairly easily.
Once people start feeling how the software has changed their job and accessibility to information they need, they continue to find ways to make their jobs easier to do. This is my favorite part, when employees come up with ideas that previously seemed far fetched and are now quick to implement and make their job easier every day.
Custom software is very empowering.
